Domestic Court Remote Hearings
Child Support Enforcement (Courtroom 8110)
The Child Support Enforcement (CSE) agency schedules each case for a hearing on a specific date and time during a calendar session. Once the calendar is generated for the session, it is sent to the courtroom clerk approximately one week in advance of the session date. CSE issues a notice of hearing to required participants containing the date and time for the Webex hearings. The Webex address for CSE hearings is nccourts.webex.com/meet/meckcr8110.sh.
Webex hearings are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each morning and afternoon session will be limited to twelve (12) cases.
In-person hearings will be held on Monday and Thursday. Monday hearings will be in-person contempt. The first and second Thursday of the month will be in-person contempt hearings. The third and fourth Thursday of the month will be in-person contempt for the morning session and in-person establishment/modification hearings for individuals with technology issues or exemptions per the rules established for exemptions for Webex hearings. The limit for in-person contempt hearings will be fifteen (15) for the morning and afternoon session. The limit for Modification/Establishment in-person hearings will be ten (10). The morning session will begin at 8:00 AM and the afternoon session will begin at 1:00 PM. Public defenders will be assigned for Monday and Thursday in-person contempt hearings. Notice of hearings will be issued by CSE.
Domestic Violence (Courtrooms 4110 and 4130)
Courtrooms 4110 and 4130 are utilized for civil Domestic Violence matters.
Safe Alliance-assisted complaints seeking Ex-Parte relief through N.C.G.S. Chapter 50B will be scheduled for remote hearing on the Webex platform using the link for courtroom 4130: nccourts.webex.com/meet/meckcr4130.sh.
All other Ex-Parte requests will be scheduled for remote hearing on the Webex platform using the link for courtroom 4130. Plaintiffs who file at the customer service window in the Clerk of Court - Civil Suite 3725 on the third floor of the Mecklenburg County Courthouse will participate in the remote hearing from conference room 6513 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Requests for Ex-parte relief filed before 10:30 a.m. will be heard on the Webex platform using the link for courtroom 4130 during the morning session. Requests for Ex-parte relief filed between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. will be scheduled for hearing on the Webex platform using the link for courtroom 4130 during the afternoon session.
Return hearings for 50B cases shall be scheduled in courtroom 4110 in accordance with the Civil Domestic Violence Scheduling Plan for the 26th Judicial District.
All return hearings for Chapter 50 actions where there is an open family court case will be heard by the assigned Family Court judge. The courtroom clerk will communicate with the appropriate Family Court clerk to schedule these matters.
