Summary

This report provides county-level and statewide statistics on every civil issue type that can be attached to a civil case for the given fiscal year.

The column labeled Case_Type allows you to show only civil issue codes that fall within certain categories of civil cases, such as CVD for Civil District cases and CVM for Civil Magistrate cases. The column labeled Issue_Text allows you to search for and select a particular issue code, such as Fines, Alimony, Divorce, and Extension of Time.

Note that cases occur once per each unique issue code, that is, a case with a custody and a divorce issue is counted once under custody and once under divorce, but a case with multiple custody issues is counted only once under custody.

If the first issue is filed during the report period, and if that issue code has the same filing date as the first issue filed on the case, it is counted under Case_Initial_Issue_Filed. Otherwise it is counted under Case_Subsequent_Issue_Filed.

In FY 2012-2013, a column was added (Total_Cases_Filed) to the reports that is that sum of Case_Initial_Issue_Filed + Case_Subsequent_Issue_Filed. Statewide aggregate statistics were also added beginning in this fiscal year. The report also disaggregates Total_Cases_Filed by the month the case was filed.

Order result annual statistics are also included, some explanations are as follows:

CLOSED_STATUS is entered by the system after a period of case inactivity, usually 90 or 120 days.

PENDING_ORDER is when an order has been given but the paper work is not yet completed.

RECORDED is used for the recording of documents, and is not appropriate for use with summary ejectment (SUME) issues. It is likely that any RECORDED order results were miss keyed, and are supposed to be GRANTED_IN_WHOLE_OR_PART.

SUSPEND_ACTION_SOLDIERS_AND_SAILORS_ACT is used to stay an issue because a party to the issue is in the military and cannot respond due to service status and/or deployment status.

STAYED_SYSTEM_ENTERED is entered when a bankruptcy becomes a federal court matter.
