SPEAKERS
Honorable Jennifer Green, Wake County district court judge;
Sheriff Donnie Harrison, Wake County Sherriff's Office

WHERE
Wake County Courthouse
5th Floor
316 Fayetteville Street
Raleigh, NC 27602

WHY
The new Domestic Violence Unit is a collaborative effort between Wake County, the clerk of superior court, the sheriff's office, and other community partners to improve the process by which someone seeks a domestic violence protective order by locating those court personnel involved in the process together in a single location. Prior to the opening of this new unit, individuals seeking a domestic violence protective order were required to travel to different buildings and multiple floors in effort to complete the process. Through this collaboration, an individual may obtain a domestic violence order by visiting this one location. Victims are better served, and these cases more effectively handled through the open communication and team approach facilitated by having these services located together.
