Summary
The Sentencing Commission projects the future Youth Development Center population to help assess North Carolina’s long-term resource needs for juvenile dispositions. It prepares projections on an annual basis in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety’s Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice. The simulation model uses empirical information about how juveniles are processed through the juvenile justice system to produce the projections.
