Court of Appeals Judges to be Installed in January

New and returning judges of the Court of Appeals will be formally installed during the following swearing-in ceremonies.

New and returning judges of the Court of Appeals (COA) will be formally installed during the following swearing-in ceremonies:

Judge Bob Hunter Jr. - took his new oath following oral arguments on Tuesday, January 10, in the COA courtroom.

Judge Hunter Murphy - Friday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. in the COA courtroom.

Judge Phil Berger Jr. - Friday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m. in the COA courtroom.

Judge Richard Dietz - TBD, new oath will be administered.

The Court of Appeals is North Carolina's intermediate appellate court. Fifteen judges hear cases in panels of three. The Court of Appeals reviews the proceedings that occurred in the trial courts for errors of law or legal procedure; it decides only questions of law - not questions of fact.
