Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed February 10-18 as Court Reporting and Captioning Week in North Carolina. Court reporters "have played a permanent and invaluable role in courtrooms" throughout our state and country.

The proclamation recognizes court reporters, along with their skills and expertise, for translating "spoken word into text, for helping to preserve our nation's history and make information more accessible to all."

In North Carolina, 105 official court reporters and 75 approved contract providers work in superior court in all 100 counties, as well as provide service for particular needs in district court from time to time.

In 2017, our court reporters produced more than 366,000 pages of transcript in more than 1,497 cases and delivered them in an average of under 77 days.
